Surround yourself but with who?

Surround yourself with the right kind of people, grow together!

Really?

Is that correct?

Okay, let's say I want to become a great author, so what am I supposed to do to surround myself with the best? Should I stay in the neighborhood of J K Rowling or should I shift in the neighborhood of Stephen King? I certainly can read their books and read their articles but that's not what surrounding ourselves means, does it? So, living besides them is not really an option and I certainly can't invite them to stay at my house (Though nobody is stopping me but I can make an educated guess that they won't come to live with me). So, surround myself with who?

I want to be a space explorer, so what should I do, rent a flat just outside the office of NASA or ISRO? Nope.... That's not how things work, sooner or later you have to accept the fact that you are on your own. You can't wait for a great team to grow around you and all of you one day go ahead to receive a Nobel prize, it just doesn't work like that. The first thing that you should accept is.... YOU ARE ALL ALONE IN YOUR JOURNEY, NOBODY IS COMING TO LIVE YOUR JOURNEY, IT'S YOURS ONLY!!

The sooner you accept this, the sooner you begin to work on yourself. The longer you try to surround yourself with the right kind of people, the longer you struggle. Even if you surround yourself with the people of your thinking, there are more than enough chances that they might not share the same zeal, same level of passion that you have. Sooner or later, ultimately you have to accept that it was never someone else who was holding you back or pushing you forward.... It was always your own dedication, passion, motivation and what you have inside you, it never was outside.
